Mourne Textiles

Gerd Hay-Edie set up the Mourne Textiles workshop and design studio at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland in 1954. Already a skilled weaver, her designs were discovered and used by luminaries such as Robin Day, Sybil Connolly and Terence Conran. Gerd’s Daughter Master Weaver Karen Hay-Edie and Grandson Mario are now building on that legacy by reviving classic designs from her archives, expertly woven using techniques passed down through the generations, producing throws and blankets which still look as contemporary today as they did at the Festival of Britain in 1951.
