With Pre-Order, you can purchase the latest items added to our store in advance of them arriving with us.

You Pre-Order is prioritised (at no additional charge); meaning that, as soon as the product arrives with us, we can wrap it straight back up and get it sent out to you - it often never even hits the stock room shelves!

With Pre-Launch, the date when we expect to receive the product ourselves is still a little too hazy to be confident in accepting Pre-Orders.

So, instead, you can submit your email address against the item you are interested in and we will email you as soon as stock arrives on the system.

The Messenger Bag is a collaboration with CHERCHBI.

Each bag is bench-made for us in Somerset, England - entirely from start to finish by one skilled maker.  We use 24oz Halley Stevenson waxed superdry canvas from Dundee, Scotland; leather which is vegetable tanned to our specifications in Derbyshire, England. The hides derive from a Northern Irish cattle herd.  In time the hand forged brass hardware - which we source from Cheshire, England - will dull to a beautiful patina. The leather trims will polish and develop a lustre with use.

Internally a range of useful pockets will securely store magazines, A4 stationery, technology and all the usual stuff of your daily commute, leaving the main compartment free for your lunch, a camera, or perhaps a 13" laptop or iPad. Unusually, we have used the same super high quality canvas for the bag's interior, ensuring consistency of aesthetic  and longevity of construction throughout.

We have made just ten of these across all three colours and have individually numbered each one.

Technical Information & Care

All CHERCHBI leathers are developed for us with the help of Joseph Clayton of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, who have been tanning leather since 1840. Our leathers originate from Northern Irish cow hide and are pit-tanned using vegetable tannins. This is an ancient process, essentially unchanged for thousands of years. Leather is a natural raw material with many great qualities, not least the individual marks, colour, lines and creases. These little inconsistencies differentiate each hide and make each leather item unique.

Care - When cared for properly the best leathers will last a lifetime. Rather than cleaning we recommend feeding and rejuvenating. Seek out natural treatments, many varieties are available containing natural extracts, oils and waxes, such as beeswax. Leather is porous, it is therefore preferable to apply the treatment and leave for a short time to absorb fully. We stock a range of suitable products and will be happy to advise.

A collaboration between Lissom + Muster and Britain's best bag and leather goods maker, Cherchbi.  Featuring some reworked classics from the Cherchbi archive, alongside entirely new products created for us.

Inspired by Britain's creative and cultural heritage, Cherchbi craft bags, belts, hats and other good things in a robust, traditional, yet beautiful manner. Expect vegetable-tanned English saddle leather, Herdwick wool tweed, cotton canvas, solid brass and pewter - each element made in the British Isles with wonderful attention to detail.

Established in 2007, the company began with an idea to make bags using wool from the ancient rare-breed Herdwick sheep. Herdwick fleece is considered almost worthless and often burned, yet the breed has a 1,000-year heritage and worthy reputation as Britain’s hardiest mountain sheep. After four years and nine weave trials this low value fleece was transformed by Cherchbi into high quality cloth - Herdwyck No. 10: A new waterproof British tweed as robust as the Herdwick sheep itself. After the success of our original collaboration using this material, we decied to try something different for 2016.

All Cherchbi leathers have been developed with the help of Joseph Clayton of Chesterfield, Derbyshire - leather tanners since 1840. Their leathers originate from Northern Irish cow hide and are pit-tanned using vegetable tannins. This is an ancient process, essentially unchanged for thousands of years. The unique marks, lines, creases and colours that differentiate each hide make each item unique. Cherchbi use the original surface of the hide, or top-grain and retain any individual marks and creases. This is cut at 3mm, unusually thick for bags, and left unbacked so every aspect of the leather is visible.

As part of our collaboration, Cherchbi have used a premium 24oz canvas from Halley Stevens of Dundee, Scotland. They have been creating waxed materials since 1864 and their expertise dates back centuries, honed by serving generations of sailors and fibre merchants.

Brass and Pewter metal ware is cast and tooled in England. Cherchbi use Swiss-made Riri zips, widely considered to be the finest quality zip available, as unfortunately no British zip makers exist.

Cherchbi’s cotton bag lining is sourced from a mill in Lancashire.

All bags are made entirely in Britain to a robust, traditional quality standard utilising traditional leatherwork and saddlery techniques. The combination of natural materials - waterproof Halley Stevenson 24oz canvas, British saddle leather, brass hardware and 100% cotton lining - all age together harmoniously with use.
